Assam Cricketers Taken To UK For Exposure Tour

GUWAHATI: A team of cricketers from Assam were recently taken for an exposure tour to the United Kingdom (UK) where the team played a few friendly cricket matches with English Cricket Clubs in London and Somerset during the 14-day tour.

A few ex-Assam cricketers including Jyoti Medhi and Bhaskar Jyoti Barman were also a part of the team.

Trishul Narayan Mazumdar, whose company Hari Om undertook the initiative with the help of  Mukut Kalita, former Assam cricketer and a pitch curator told G Plus, “I always wanted to revive this cricket culture of Assam boys travelling to different countries to experience the cricket culture in abroad. With the help of such cricket tours, one gets to explore different places, play, learn and grow as an individual.”

He added that this tour was inspired by The Sunil Gavaskar Foundation tours which he was a part in his younger cricket days headed by former Indian cricketer, coach and selector, Raju Mukherji.

Mazumdar mentioned that he is planning to undertake more such cricket exposure tours next year comprising young players from Australia and UK.
