GUWAHATI: The Election Commission's flying squad arrested Jintu Hazarika, the personal assistant to Bhupen Borah, President of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee in Lakhimpur on April 11.

Jintu Hazarika was apprehended in Lakhimpur for carrying cash exceeding the permissible limit.

As per reports, Hazarika was found in possession of a substantial sum amounting to ₹5,81,000.
Officials stated that they suspected that the cash was to be used in election related activities, possibly for handing out to people to lure them to vote for the party, reports stated.
