The ECI has stated that the political parties were engaged to form the COVID-19 guidelines along with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of elections. The ECI has stated that local variations will be considered.

The Chief Election Commissioner of India, Sunil Arora, stated that elections in definition will be a large gathering and as such several steps have been taken to mitigate the elections.

The postal ballot option has been given to senior citizens (80 years and above) and for employees occupied in essential services. The nodal health officers at the state level have been asked to maintain protocols.

The polling time has been uniformly increased on the basis of COVID-19. Several decisions have been made to reduce human contact but offline security deposits can also be submitted online. The door-to-door campaigning has also been reduced to five candidates that would include the candidate.
