Assam Cop Conferred With ‘Excellence In Investigation’ Award By Home Ministry

GUWAHATI: The Deputy Superintendent of Police Hailakandi, Nayan Moni Barman, was conferred with the ‘Excellence in Investigation’ award by the Home Ministry for the year 2019. 

Barman received the award for his speedy investigation in a case of rape and murder of a minor tribal girl in Betcherra under Ramnathpur Police Station along with Assam-Mizoram inter-state border on March 14, 2018.

He was heading the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and his speedy efforts led to the arrest of the accused, Jashimuddin Borbhuiya, who was sentenced to capital punishment by a fast track court on October 1 last year.

In addition to Barman, Superintendent of Police, Shankar Brata Raimedhi and Sub Inspector (UB), Md. Emdadul Hussain also received the award. 

It should be noted that in total, 96 police officers across the country won the ‘Excellence in Investigation’ award by the Union Home Ministry.
