GUWAHATI: The One-Man Inquiry Commission, led by retired Justice Rumi Kumari Phukan successfully concluded its inquiry surrounding the incident that occurred on November 22, 2022.
The commission was appointed by the Assam Governor on November 23, 2022, to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident that occurred on November 22, 2022, at Mukhrow under Zirikinding Police Station of West Karbi Anglong District, resulting in the tragic demise of five civilians and one home guard.
The Commission had been granted two extensions to complete its investigation, with the final deadline set at September 22. Throughout the inquiry process, the Commission meticulously examined a significant number of witnesses and reviewed extensive documentation presented by the Forest and Police Departments, as well as various organisations.
On September 20, the Commission submitted its comprehensive report to the Additional Chief Secretary of the Assam Government's Home and Political Department, marking the conclusion of its mission to unearth the facts surrounding the tragic incident.
