The proposal was initially made during the Advantage Assam 2.0 business summit held in February.

Taking to X, Sarma shared that he and senior state officials held a detailed discussion with Jeet Adani and his team to move forward with the investment. "During Advantage Assam 2, the Adani Group pledged an investment of ₹50,000 crore. Today, we had a productive meeting to chart the roadmap for implementing that commitment," Sarma posted.

He further expressed optimism that the Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed during the summit—covering projects such as an aero-city, hotels, a cement plant, and other key infrastructure developments—would soon transition into actionable projects.

Earlier, at the summit's inaugural session, Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani had formally announced the investment plans, emphasising the group’s interest in contributing to Assam’s growth across multiple sectors.
