Assam Cares: 829 People Stranded in Other States for Health Check Ups Receive Financial Aid

GUWAHATI: The Assam government had launched three schemes under Assam Cares initiative to provide financial aid to the people stranded due to lockdown.

As such, lakhs of people stranded in other parts of India as well as abroad had contacted the helpline numbers provided by the Assam government to seek assistance. 

829 people stuck in other states of India due to medical check ups have received Rs 25000 each.

52 people who had gone abroad and got stranded amid lockdown have received $2000.

Further, close to 2 lakh people stranded in other parts of India have received Rs 2000. It should be mentioned that over 5 lakh people had contacted the helpline numbers, some are still under scrutiny.

"By April 30, we will be able to help around  3 lakh people. And in the next month, they will receive second installment of Rs 1000 each," stated Himanta Biswa Sarma.
