Assam Cabinet Constitutes Committee To Finalise State Emblem

 

GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet has constituted a Cabinet Committee to finalise a State Emblem in an effort to create a distinctive symbol that will signify and visually represent the State. The Committee will be headed by the State Education Minister Ranoj Pegu and Health Minister Keshab Mahanta.

This was part of a decision made at a meeting of the State Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister (CM) Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday, February 2. The meeting also took several other major decisions pertaining to providing land to the underprivileged, improving rural as well as road infrastructure, improving administrative efficiency, among others. 

Other Cabinet decisions taken at the meeting include the expansion of Jorhat Airport, for which Rs 156 crore has been approved. A total of 124 bigha 14.92 lessas of private land has been allotted to facilitate the expansion of the Airport, which will be done by the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

Furthermore, Rs 450 crore has been approved for the construction of a new Medical College and Hospital in the newly-formed Tamulpur District of the State.
