GUWAHATI: On October 27, the Assam Cabinet approved the establishment of the Patharkandi Municipal Board to ensure proper governance in the bustling urban area of Patharkandi.

The decision, made under Section 4 of the Assam Municipal Act, 1956, includes ex-post facto approval.
The newly formed Municipal Board will consist of ten wards, which will cover seven revenue villages. This formation will lead to the dissolution of the existing Patharkandi Gaon Panchayat.
