Assam By-Polls: BJP Victorious In 3 Out Of 4 Constituencies

GUWAHATI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won three out of the four constituencies in the Assam Assembly Elections 2019.

BJP candidate Bijoy Malakar won the Ratabari Assembly seat by a margin of 23,982 votes against Congress candidate Keshab Prasad Rajak.

Malakar secured 68512 votes, while Rajak secured 44530 votes.

BJP’s Rajen Borthakur won by a record margin of 50,184 votes against Congress’ Kartik Kurmi in Rangapara constituency.

Borthakur secured 78,185 votes while Kurmi secured 28,021 votes.

Meanwhile, BJP candidate Nabanita Handique sealed the deal in Jonari,  while AIUDF candidate Rafiqul Islam won the Jania seat with 81608 votes.

In a tweet Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "Happy that we retained all 3 assembly seats of #Assam ~ #Rangapara, #Ratabari & #Sonari by huge margins.
