Assam Budget 2025-26: ₹5000 Crore Allocated To Cover 37.2 Lakh Orunodoi 3.0 Beneficiaries

 

GUWAHATI: Orunodoi is set for a major expansion bringing in 37.2 lakh beneficiaries under its ambit in 2025-26, a significant leap from the 24 lakh beneficiaries recorded by December 2023.

This was announced by Finance Minister Ajanta Neog, who presented the Assam budget 2025-26 in the assembly on Monday, March 10. The minister said ₹5,000 crore has been allocated for Orunodoi 3.0 to support this initiative, reinforcing the government's commitment to women’s empowerment and economic welfare across Assam.

She said the final list of beneficiaries will be released by March 31, except for the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), where the selection process will be carried out separately.

Orunodoi was initially launched in 2020 with 18 lakh women beneficiaries and has since emerged as one of the state’s most impactful direct benefit transfer schemes.
