GUWAHATI: The Assam government is planning to establish its own OTT platform to archive and promote Assamese cinema, literature, folk songs, music, and documentaries, ensuring the preservation of the state’s artistic legacy.

This was announced by Finance Minister Ajanta Neog while presenting the state budget for 2025-26. The government has unveiled a series of cultural initiatives as part of the budget , focusing on the preservation and promotion of the state’s rich heritage. It has proposed a monthly allowance of ₹1,500 for Udasin Bhakats, acknowledging their integral role in the institution of Sattras.
A state-wide competition, Sanskritik Mahasangram, will be organised to provide a platform for young talents in various music genres, the minister said.
Furthermore, a mass recitation of the State Anthem, O Mur Apunar Desh, will be held, with over one crore citizens expected to participate simultaneously from their respective locations.
The traditional Bodo folk dances, Bagurumba and Bordoisikla, will be showcased through a grand performance aiming national and international audiences.
