GUWAHATI: The Assam government has allocated ₹10 crore for the modernisation of the Government Press in Guwahati, commonly known as "Assam Press." This was announced by Finance Minister Ajanta Neog while presenting the state budget for 2025-26 in the assembly on Monday, March 10.

The initiative aims to upgrade printing technology, improve efficiency, and enhance the overall functioning of the press, which plays a crucial role in official publications and state printing requirements.
Apart from this, a new branch of Assam Government Press is coming up at Titabor and Lakhimpur Press is being renovated. Four new machines have been installed and plans for a branch in Silchar are in progress, the minister said.
The government has allocated ₹204 crore to Information, Public Relations and Printing & Stationery Department for the purpose.
