Assam Budget 2025-26: Graduates, Research Scholars To Get Financial Assistance

 

GUWAHATI: The Assam government will provide financial assistance to young graduates and research scholars under a new scheme named ‘Chief Minister’s Jibon Prerana.’  The scheme will be launched in October.

Presenting the state budget 2025-26 on Monday, March 10, Finance Minister Ajanta Neog said a budget of ₹25 crore has been allocated for the initiative. The scheme is designed to offer ₹2,500 per month for up to one year to graduates from government universities and colleges in Assam who pass out in 2025. This financial aid aims to support them during their job-search period. Additionally, on the recommendation of the Deputy Commissioner (DC), eligible candidates may opt for a one-time grant of ₹25,000 instead of the monthly stipend.

Further extending its support to the academic community, the government has announced a one-time financial assistance of ₹25,000 for research scholars enrolled in state and central government universities, irrespective of gender. 

Moreover, Divyang (differently-abled) research scholars will receive an enhanced grant of ₹50,000 under the scheme, the minister said

Only permanent residents of Assam will be eligible for benefits under the scheme.
