Assam Budget 2024-25: Each MBBS Student Will Now Have To Adopt One Family

GUWAHATI: The Assam Government has announced the Village and Community Outreach Programme under Chief Minister Ayushman Asom during the budget 2024-25 which was held on February 12.

The program, designed for MBBS students in medical colleges across the state, aims to enrich their education by focusing on communication skills and cultural factors influencing community health.

Under this scheme, each MBBS student will adopt a family, delving into the intricacies of community health and gaining insights into the diverse cultural aspects impacting well-being. The scheme emphasises a hands-on approach, ensuring that medical students not only grasp theoretical knowledge but also develop a profound understanding of the health needs specific to local communities.

On May 10, 2023, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched the Ayushman Assam Scheme under the Mukhya Mantri Jan Arogya (MMJA) in Guwahati.
