Assam Arogya Nidhi Funds will be used to Develop Medical Infrastructure: Himanta Biswa

GUWAHATI: State health and family welfare minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on April 13 that the funds collected in the state COVID-19 relief fund would be used for health infrastructure augmentation in Assam.
   
“The donated amount shall be used for construction of hospitals and to improve health infrastructure in the state. We will work out an exact picture of requirements of different hospitals and will present the details within the next three days,” said Sarma.

It is to be mentioned that total funds collected in Assam Arogya Nidhi stands at Rs 91,25,61,000. 

These include donations made by more than 40,0000 people in the state to fight coronavirus, mentioned the minister.

He added that all donation amount shall be exempted from income tax.
