GUWAHATI: In a recent development, the Assam Government has taken a step towards the alteration of the area included under the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). This move comes in response to the Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) signed on January 27, 2020, with Bodo organisations and the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB).
According to an official notification issued by the Principal Secretary of the Home and Political Department, the Assam government has appointed key officials to spearhead this critical initiative. Bipul Das, an ACS officer serving as the Joint Secretary of the Home and Political Department, has been designated as the Member Secretary of the endeavour. Assisting him in expediting various official matters related to the Commission is Ramanuj Hazarika, an ACS officer holding the position of Deputy Secretary within the Home and Political Department.
The alteration of the BTR's boundaries holds significant implications for the region, and these officials are tasked with overseeing the process diligently. This move aims to promote stability and development within the Bodoland Territorial Region while ensuring the interests and aspirations of the local communities are respected and upheld.
