GUWAHATI: During the Assam Cabinet meeting held on November 9, 2022, the cabinet approved the installation of 58 lakh smart meters by the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL).
“The project will be completed by March 31, 2025,” said a senior official of APDCL. The estimated cost of the project is ₹4,536.79 crores. The cabinet also revised administration approval for seven other projects and utilization of saved funds worth ₹56.76 crore which is available with the Assam Electricity Grid Corporation Ltd (AEGCL).
The saved fund will be used to complete three ongoing projects which the APDCL claimed will improve the power scenario in South Salmara, Barpeta, and Bongaigaon districts of Assam.
