GUWAHATI: In a significant development, Ambarish Barman has been appointed as the Controller of Defence Accounts (CDA) at Guwahati, assuming the prestigious role with the Senior Administrative Grade (SAG) designation.
The CDA Guwahati is responsible for the financial oversight and expenditure management of the Armed Forces in the North East Region, encompassing crucial areas such as disbursements, audit, accounting, and financial advice.
Belonging to Dibrugarh, Barman brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise, having joined the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS) in the 2005 batch. Throughout his distinguished career spanning over 17 years, Barman has held various significant positions, including command, staff, and instructional appointments.
He has served as a member of Emergency Empowered Committees and Empowered Procurement Committees in Service Headquarters. In addition, he has garnered valuable experience as a Member Secretary of Task Forces and High-Level Committees in the Ministry of Defence.
His notable achievements also include acting as a Central Election Observer and serving as the Central Nodal Officer under the Jal Shakti Abhiyan. Moreover, he has contributed his expertise as a Member (Government Representative) of the Pension Advisory Committee of the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA).
Before assuming his current role, Barman served on Central Deputation as the Director to the Government of India in the Ministry of Defence. In recognition of his exceptional dedication, commitment, and professional competence, Barman was honoured with the Commendation of The Chief of Naval Staff in 2016.
With his vast experience and impeccable track record, Barman is poised to bring effective financial management and oversight to the Armed Forces in the North East Region. His appointment is expected to further strengthen the financial operations and ensure the smooth functioning of the organisation.
