Assam: All Eyes on Lurin Jyoti For a Regional Party Tie-Up

All eyes are set on the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) President Lurin Jyoti Gogoi who is yet to respond to a letter sent to him by the Raijor Dal (RD) top brass.

As per a highly placed source in the RD, the letter is a formal friendship call from the RD to the AJP to jointly form a regional alliance.  "We gave the letter and the response from the AJP side upon receiving the letter was positive. But we were even told that there was no need to formally submit any letter," added the source.

The RD leader further stated the onus is on the AJP to prove their interest to form a united political regional front.

Meanwhile, there has been no response from the AJP side in context to a regional alliance option.

"We are waiting for the President to respond to the situation," an AJP member told G Plus. Lurin Jyoti was not present when this reporter visited the AJP head office.

But coincidentally on the same day he tweeted, "I too believe that regional parties should unite. Have been following your relentless struggle for the rights of the Tripuri people very closely and am looking forward to meeting you too." This was in response to the political context of Tripura.
