GUWAHATI: A sad news of drowning incident has been reported from Jorhat district of Assam.
Three boys have reportedly drowned in the Bhogdoi River today. The youth had gone to the river to take bath after taking part in Holi festivities.
They were bathing below the under-construction Bhogdoi Bridge at the bypass where the incident took place.
One body has been recovered by the SDRF rescue team till the filing of this report.
The identities of the persons are yet to be ascertained. According to local reports and police two more boys are missing and search operation is on.
A team of SDRF is on the rescue and recovery mission.
The families of the deceased are yet to know about the accident as the identities are not known.
"We received information that a few boys were bathing under the bypass bridge and an accident has happened.
We immediately contacted the SDRF team and they reached the spot immediately. They pulled out a body sometime ago and another one just a few moment ago. We can't exactly tell how many boys were there. They had come here after playing Holi. We are trying to identify them," said a police officer in Jorhat.
