Assam Actor Jatin Bora Formally Rejoins Ruling BJP

GUWAHATI: Assam actor Jatin Bora has taken a U-turn and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday, August 17, eight months after quitting the party over the controversial CAA law.  


The actor expressed his decision to rejoin the saffron party during a press conference where he said he had quit the party after being misguided by a section of people.

"The anti- CAA movement had caused extensive damage to the city. It was a horrific experience for many people including me as it claimed lives of five youths," stated Bora during the press conference. 

The actor said his decision to leave BJP was a wrong one and termed the CAA as an emotional issue. He added that he left the party out of fear during the CAA movement and now he has understood his mistake.

Bora also admitted that he is not well-versed with politics, rather he wants to do something worthwhile for the cinema industry of Assam.


Jatin Bora had earlier served as the chairman of the Assam State Film (Finance and Development) Corporation. He joined the BJP in 2015.
