Assam Accord to be Implemented in Totality: CM Sarbananda Sonowal

GUWAHATI: Delivering his customary speech on the occasion of Independence Day, chief minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal said that the government is committed towards the implementation of the Assam Accord in totality.

“On the occasion of Independence Day, I would like to convince the people of Assam that the state government is duty-bound to implement each and every clause of the Assam Accord in letter and spirit," said Sonowal while unfurling the Tricolor at Judges Field in Guwahati.

He reiterated that despite the coronavirus threat, the Assam government took initiatives to implement Clause 6 of the Assam Accord that deals with provisions of granting constitutional, legislative and administrative safeguards to the Assamese people.

“There will be no compromise as far as implementation of Assam Accord is concerned,” added CM Sarbananda Sonowal.
