GUWAHATI: A man from Dibrugarh, Buddhadev Das, allegedly threw acid on a woman on Sunday, February 14. The incident occurred in the peripheries of Amolapatty area in Dibrugarh, Assam.
The girl was returning from her workplace at Sohum Shoppe – a mall in the centre of the town when the incident occurred at a neighbourhood area called Mirzabag under Amolapatty Police outpost. It was around 8:59 PM when the attack took place.
The matter was confirmed to G Plus by Officer in Charge (OC), Rajiv Saikia. The police have arrested the accused under PS Case 333/2021.
As per a highly placed source, the man alleged that he already had had a relationship with the woman around four to five years ago. About two years ago, the girl had moved out of the relationship.
Meanwhile, the girl's colleagues at her workplace have revealed that the man used to follow the girl every day after work.
Upon meeting the girl, she revealed to police authorities that she had never stayed with Das. She further alleged that Das used to bother her every day after work. On the day of the acid attack, the cloth hiding his face felled down, which revealed his face to her.
The case is still under further investigation under the Assam police.
