Assam: 34 Dead As Over 2.5 Lakh Still Affected By Floods, PM Modi Reviews Situation

 

GUWAHATI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi called up Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma to take stock of the flood situation in Assam on July 1.

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma took to X to put out, “Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi  Ji called me a short while ago to enquire about the flood situation in Assam. I explained him that Assam is experiencing a second wave of floods this year due to heavy rains in Arunachal Pradesh and part of our upper Assam districts. I also briefed him about the relief measures undertaken by the state government. He assured me of full cooperation from the Government of India in this hour of crisis.”

According to ASDMA, as of June 30, 34 have died in 671 villages affected in 12 districts with 262186 still affected in floods in Assam. 6546.44 hectares of cropland have been affected by the floods as per the official report.
