Assam: 13 Rescued From East Champaran in Bihar

GUWAHATI: A joint team of CID Assam and Morigaon police, rescued 13 persons from East Champaran in Bihar.  

Out of this, five are children and five are adult women. Further, two women also had infants. Authorities informed that they were taken there to work at dance orchestra troop.

“Two persons have also been arrested during the operation who are owners of the dance orchestra. Our objective was to hit hard at the whole network of trafficking when the owners of the dance bars were booked,” said IGP (CID), Surendra Kumar, while talking to G Plus.   

The team comprising nine personnel proceeded for Bihar on September 13. Prior to this, on the intervening night of September 10 and 11, based on specific input, a rescue operation was conducted by a team of Morigaon police with the help of GRP, Assam at Kamakhya railway station.  

The authorities rescued five children from the Awadh Assam train, out of which four were girls and one was a boy.

“They were being taken to East Champaran district in Bihar to work in a dance orchestra.    Two traffickers were also arrested namely Bakuli Bordoloi and her father Bhaben Bordoloi. Bakuli was part of a dance troop there and was involved in taking children from Assam to work in the dance troop,” mentioned Kumar.      

Further, a case was registered at the Morigaon police station during the interrogation Bakuli informed that there are more women and children from Assam who are working in different dance troops in East Champaran.
