GUWAHATI: Additional superintendent of police, Surjeet Singh Panesar will continue as the investigating officer of the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) cash-for-job scam case registered at Dibrugarh police station.

When Panesar was transferred out of Dibrugarh to Golaghat, there was apprehension about changing the investigating officer for the case.

According to a report on The Telegraph, an official source said that the state home department has written to the additional director-general of police (law and order), Mukesh Agrawal intimating about the state government’s approval to allow Panesar to continue as the investigating officer of the case.

It is to be mentioned that following the arrest of former APSC chief, Rakesh Kumar Paul, the investigation for the cash-for-job Scam was headed by Surjeet Singh Panesar wherein Dibrugarh police had already charge-sheeted more than 60 accused persons in this case.
