Amit Shah in Guwahati to Launch Ayushman Bharat Yojana

GUWAHATI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to launch the Ayushman Bharat healthcare scheme for central paramilitary force (CAPF) personnel at 5:30 PM in Guwahati today, 23rd January. Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan will also grace the occasion.


The Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana provides free access to healthcare to 40% of the people in the country.

Earlier today PM Narendra Modi had said that 40 percent people in Assam has availed the benefit of the scheme. The same is now being extended towards the central paramilitary force and their families. 


Shah has arrived for a two-day visit to Assam and Shillong. He had inaugurated the 69th Plenary Meeting of the North Eastern Council (NEC) in Shillong in the presence of Vice Chairman of NEC Dr Jitendra Singh who is also the DoNER Minister and Secretary of NEC was also present.


The Union minister will also be attending the celebrations of the first anniversary of the signing of the Bodoland Territorial Region Accord on 24th January.
