Altercation Takes Place Between Two Parties In Assam’s Sribhumi During Panchayat Elections

 

GUWAHATI: An altercation took place in Assam’s Sribhumi, located in South Karimganj, during the ongoing Panchayat elections on Friday, May 2. The incident occurred near a Dalgram polling station located in South Karimganj (Sribhumi) and involved two rival groups.

While floating media reports have suggested a violent confrontation resulting in injuries and hospitalisation, Sribhumi’s Additional Superintendent of Police provided a clarification regarding the situation.

Speaking to GPlus, the official stated that there was no prime disturbance at the polling station, and that the incident was limited to a verbal exchange between the two parties.

“There is nothing major about it,” the Additional SP confirmed. “It’s just a spat between the two party members, along with a little tussling amongst them.”

The officer further confirmed that the voting process continued without disruption and remained on schedule throughout the day.

No complaints were officially registered by either group involved in the altercation as well.
