After Artists, Literary Bodies, now Sops for Workers by Sonowal Govt

GUWAHATI: Around 30,000 workers who are engaged in construction works of different kinds will receive aid under various schemes by the state government.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday held a review meeting of the Assam Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board at Janata Bhawan and this was decided in the meeting. A state-level distribution function for the same will be organised on February 11.       

Further, the aid would be distributed under schemes for death of registered labourers, medical assistance, one-time education grant, general pension, family pension, loan for buying tools and equipment, assistance during pregnancy etc.

Prior to this, the chief minister had announced that the state government would provide Rs 10 crores to the corpus fund of Asom Sahitya Sabha, Rs 5 crores to Bodo Sahitya Sabha and Rs 3 crores each to the other indigenous Sahitya Sabhas as one-time grants.

This apart CM Sonowal had announced that the state government would provide one-time financial grant of Rs 50,000 to one thousand new writers belonging to various communities of the state under “Bhasha Gaurav” scheme.
