GUWAHATI: Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) 1958 has been extended in the four districts of Assam for a further period of 6 (six) months w.e.f. April 1, unless withdrawn earlier.

The districts are Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, and Charaideo where the AFSPA Act has been extended to maintain a “status-quo” regarding “Disturbed Areas” in the State of Assam for a further period of six months w.e.f. April 1, 2024.

Earlier, in these districts, AFSPA had been imposed with effect from October 1, 2023, for a period of six months, which has now been extended keeping in mind the situation there.
