Aerial Surveillance, UAV & Vigil Enhanced Along Indo Myanmar Border In Manipur

GUWAHATI: The ongoing crisis in Manipur has led to multiple aerial surveillance across the state and the Indo-Myanmar border area.

The crisis in the state is being addressed proactively by Security Forces who are leaving no stone unturned to thwart the nefarious designs, should they manifest. 

While on ground zero, Assam Rifles is enhancing its deployment posture, round-the-clock vigil & border surveillance, their efforts are being given fresh impetus by allocating Unmanned Aerial Vehicle & Army Helicopters for aerial surveillance in Manipur. 

Multiple rounds of Aerial Surveillance using Cheetah Helicopters have already been conducted by Army since morning in Manipur. 

So far, forces have rescued 9,000 people from the violence-hit areas and provided shelter and more people are being shifted to safer places, according to the media.

55 columns of the Army and Assam Rifles have been deployed to contain widespread rioting that broke out across Manipur between tribals and the Meitei community.

According to media reports, on Wednesday, the All Tribal Student Union Manipur (ATSUM) called a “Tribal Solidarity March” in the Torbung area of Churachandpur district to protest against the non-tribal Meiteis community's demand for a Scheduled tribe status.

According to the media reports, thousands took part in the rally during which violence broke out between tribals and non-tribals.

Curfew was imposed in eight districts of Manipur and mobile internet services were suspended in the entire state over the violence.

On May 4, Manipur Governor authorized all District Magistrates, Sub-Divisional Magistrates, and all Executive Magistrates/ Special Executive Magistrates to Shoot at sight if required to maintain law and order situation in the violent bound Manipur.
