GUWAHATI: The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) laid foundation stone for an exclusive gymnasium and reception hall on Monday in the premise of ACA Stadium at Barshapara, Guwahati.

The composite project of two-storied 6000 sq ft will be completed within 31st January 2021. The first floor will boast a reception hall and the second floor will have a sophisticated gym.

G Plus spoke to Devajit Lon Saikia, Secretary, ACA who highlighted that the initiative will be beneficial to the cricket scene in Assam.

"Today fitness is the mantra for all sports which includes cricket as well. The cricketers need a proper training facility.  The proposed gym will contain ice and sauna baths among other modern facilities which will help the cricketers enhance their game," Saikia informed.

With a budget of Rs 60 lakhs, ACA targets the gym to be opened by 31st January 2021. Saikia added that a proper gym should have been made a long time back. "The current gym is not hygienic and a new one should have been set up a long time back," he said.

The gym will also be available for other sportsmen provided their associations approach ACA if their players require advance training.
