AASU Chief Condemns Adani Group Over Airport Officer's Resignation

GUWAHATI: All Assam Students' Union (AASU) Chief Advisor, Samujjal Bhattacharjya, has criticised the Adani Group following the resignation of Utpal Baruah, Chief Airport Officer (CAO) of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA) in Guwahati.

Baruah resigned shortly after the shunting of three top officials from LGBIA. The airport announced Baruah's resignation and the appointment of Ashwin Noronha as the new CAO.

Bhattacharjya took to X, expressing the shock of Assam's people over Baruah's resignation under what he described as unusual circumstances. He suggested a conspiracy behind the resignation, praising Baruah for his efficiency, leadership, and efforts to protect Assam's culture and the interests of its indigenous people. He urged the government and concerned groups to investigate and safeguard Assam's interests.

A source told GPlus, "The decision was quite absurd. Baruah significantly contributed to the airport's development and created opportunities for the indigenous people of Assam. His resignation seems to be the result of targeted pressure."

Baruah's statement to the media about his resignation provided little clarity, leaving the public awaiting a transparent response from the Adani Group amid growing criticism.
