GUWAHATI: The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) and its 28 allied organisations representing various ethnic communities today called upon the people of the state to take part in the Mass Satyagraha at the Latasil playground.

The AASU organised satyagraha saw a mix participation of over five thousand students and leaders from various ethnic communities. The participants used slogans like, “Bangladeshi Go Back!” and “Stop Citizenship Amendment Bill”. Also, the organisations played instruments like Taal to create an atmosphere of a regionalism and brotherhood.

The demands from this Mass Satyagraha are:

- To set a deadline for the implementation of Assam Accord, 1985

- To provide constitutional safeguard to the indigenous communities of the state

- To seal the Assam Bangladesh border in a war footing manner

- To initiate migrant exchange talks with the Bangladesh Government.

Concerns regarding the Citizenship Amendment Bill and the State and Central government’s “derailment” in updating NRC were also raised.
