GUWAHATI: Hundreds of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) members in Assam staged a massive protest at Ganeshguri in Guwahati on Friday, demanding the release of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was arrested on corruption charges related to the Delhi’s liquor policy.

The protestors had planned to march from Ganeshguri to Janata Bhawan, but the rally was intercepted by police along the way.

Tensions flared as a scuffle broke out between the protestors and law enforcement officers during the demonstration. Amidst the chaos, anti-BJP slogans echoed through the crowd, with chants denouncing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and urging Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to leave.

A protester said,  "We demand the immediate release of CM Arvind Kejriwal. The BJP-led government is attempting to suppress democracy by arresting him."
