GUWAHATI: With the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup football championship scheduled in India between October 11 and 30, seven players from Manipur have made it to the Indian National Team.
Coach Thomas Dennerby announced the final 21-player squad list on Twitter through the official account of the Indian Football Team.
The following players from Manipur have been cited as official players in the Indian Football Team:
- Moirangthem Monalisha Devi: Goalkeeper(1)
- Keisham Melody Chanu: Goalkeeper (13)
- Hemam Shilky Devi: Defender (4)
- Lisham Babina Devi: Midfielder (6)
- S Lynda Kom: Forward (9)
- Laishram Rejiya Devi: Forward (18)
- Loktongbam Shelia Devi: Forward (12).
The young tigresses would be battling it out with the best in the world for the coveted FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup trophy. A total of 16 teams will play against each other in four groups. The matches will be held in Bhubaneswar, Goa and Navi Mumbai.
India will host the women’s tournament for the first time. In the Group Matches host, India will take on USA, Morocco and Brazil starting October 11. They will play all their group matches in Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
