With an ambitious plan to promote the beauty and tourism prospects of Assam, a 6-member team of Guwahati-based 'Rhinos Motorcycle Club' commenced a voyage towards Sikkim's Gurudongma from Guwahati's Nehru Stadium on Tuesday morning.

Supported by Assam Government's State Level Advisory Committee for Student and Youth Welfare and powered by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, the 7-day bike expedition was flagged off by Lakshya Konwar, Member Secretary of SLAC Student and Youth Welfare and Ritubaran Sarmah, Vice-Chairman of Amtron.

On their way from Guwahati to Gurudongma, the team will promote youth welfare and adventure sports, and invite guests to Assam.

In this duration, the team will promote the campaign with 'meet-the-press' sessions, road shows, extempore visits at educational institutions, and distribution of information leaflets of Assam Tourism in towns like Alipurduar, Siliguri, Darjeeling, Gangtok, Lachen etc.

The expedition, scheduled to conclude on 4th December, includes Deepu Deka, Dhiraj Hazarika, Ankur Borthakur, Imtiaz Ahmed, Jyotiprasad Das and Arindam Deka.

It is worth mentioning that their destination Gurudongma, situated at an altitude of 17,800 feet, is very close to the Indo-China border.
