5,242 Community Cadres In Assam To Get Scooters & Monthly Maintenance Allowance

 

GUWAHATI: The Assam government has approved the distribution of scooters to 5,242 Community Cadres under the "Jeevika Sakhi Express" Scheme. The decision was made during a cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, August 21.

The initiative aims to enhance the mobility of cadres working towards women’s empowerment through the Self-Help Group (SHG) movement. Each cadre will receive a scooter, and a monthly allowance of ₹500 will be provided to cover maintenance and fuel costs.

The scheme will also benefit other Community Cadres including Bank Sakhi, Krishi Sakhi, Bima Sakhi, Pashu Sakhi, and Master Bookkeeper. The scooters will be procured through the GeM (Government e-Marketplace) portal to ensure effective implementation.
