GUWAHATI: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kamrup Metropolitan Department, Pallav Gopal Jha has said that around 500 CCTV cameras are being set up in and around Kamakhya Devalaya in Guwahati ahead of Ambubachi 2022.
The DC in a press conference held in the city on Monday, June 20, informed that several guidelines regarding the celebration of Ambubachi have been issued.
This year, the Assam Government is expecting a maximum of 10 lakh devotees in the Ambubachi. Three temporary camps are being set up at Kamakhya Station, Old Jail Campus and Pandu Port. The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has appointed 750 additional workers in the above-mentioned camps apart from GMC employees, the DC said.
The DC further informed that the Government has given more importance to cleanliness during the celebrations this year.
Furthermore, the GMC has imposed limitations on NGO set-ups and only a few NGOs are allowed to distribute food and water during the Ambubachi. At least one NGO is allowed from every GMC ward, Dc Pallav Gopal Jha informed.
He also stated that people have been asked to shift to safer places from the landslide-prone areas.
