GUWAHATI: An incident of a man being stabbed was reported from Noonmati at 2.30 pm on June 12.
A 26 year old man named Rituparna Pegu was injured in the incident which took place in a shop named Arman Housing Furniture.
On receiving the information, Noonmati Police immediately reached the spot and facilitated shifting the victim to the hospital.

However, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at the Gate Hospital.
Noonmati Police swung into action and apprehended five accused persons, namely Hussain Ali, Dulal Ali, Ibrahim Ali, Manuwara Khatun and Arman Ali.
During preliminary investigation, it was found that the victim and the accused were caught in a verbal brawl over a petty issue which led to a physical confrontation between Hussain Ali, his family members and the victim.
Speaking to G Plus, Officer in Charge of Noonmati Police Station, Rajib Baruah said, “We have arrested all 5 accused who have brutally murdered Rituparna Pegu.”
“The incident took place over a chair, which was a petty issue. This was followed by heated argument and led to the stabbing of the victim. The accused will be produced in court today.” the official added.

A case has been registered with the Noonmati Police Station and further details from investigation are awaited.
