477 Drunken Driving Cases Reported On New Year's In Assam

GUWAHATI: In a move to enhance road safety and enforce traffic regulations, the Assam Transport Department conducted a robust operation on the last day of 2023 and the first day of 2024.

The initiative resulted in the seizure of 49 vehicles, detection of 477 cases of drunken driving, suspension of 364 driving licenses, and penalisation for 2,315 other traffic offences.

Assam Transport Minister Parimal Suklabaidya reiterated the commitment of the Assam Transport Department towards an accident-free Assam.

Minister Suklabaidya took to X to put out a statement, which read, “Sharing the performance report of Assam Transport Department for 31st Dec,2023 & 1st Jan,2024. We are relentlessly working to make the roads of Assam safer.”
