GUWAHATI: In a coordinated operation responding to a crucial input, the Special Task Force (STF) Assam, in collaboration with a police team from Basishtha Police Station, successfully conducted a joint operation in Guwahati this morning, resulting in the apprehension of three narcotics peddlers and the seizure of 30 kilograms of cannabis from their possession.
The arrested individuals, identified as Rajesh Rai (32 years), Hrithik Raj (18 years), and Uday Kumar (19 years), were intercepted near the Khanapara flyover during the operation. The STF and police teams acted effectively to apprehend the suspects, who were found in possession of a substantial quantity of cannabis.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the illicit drugs were being transported from Karimganj with the intention to deliver them at Baihata Chariali in the Kamrup Rural District. The timely intervention of the law enforcement teams thwarted the illegal drug trade operation, preventing the distribution of the contraband to its intended destination.
Following the operation's success, the apprehended individuals and the seized 30 kilograms of cannabis were handed over to the authorities at Basishtha Police Station in Guwahati for further investigation. A case has been registered against the accused under the appropriate sections of the law.
