28 Confirmed Coronavirus Cases in India, Guwahati Airport Screens every Passenger

GUWAHATI: Union Health minister Harsh Vardhan said on Wednesday that a total of 28 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in India.

The total number of cases includes the three cases first reported in Kerala. As on date, 14 of the 21 Italian tourists and one Indian driver of the tour bus tested positive for coronavirus. The Italian tourists have been sent to an Indo-Tibetan Border Police's (ITBP) quarantine facility in Chhawla, Harsh Vardhan said.

However, three cases in Kerala have recovered and returned to their homes.

Meanwhile in Guwahati, the airport authorities at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport have been screening every arriving passenger since March 3.   

Earlier only international passengers arriving only from international flights were being screened at the Guwahati airport, said authorities.

“We are following the guidelines of ministry of health and family welfare and are screening every passenger arriving from domestic as well as international flight now mandatorily,” said an official of the LGBI airport.

It is to be mentioned that a total of 239 passengers have been screened at the Guwahati airport till March 3.
