The new HRMS was launched on 26th November via video conferencing by Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav, Chairman, and CEO, Railway Board, New Delhi.

The Employee Self Service (ESS) module will enable railway employees to interact with various modules of HRMS including communication regarding change of data. The Provident Fund (PF) Advance module will enable employees to check their PF balance and apply for PF advance online.

Processing for seeking advance will be done online and employees will also be able to see the status of their PF application.

Accordingly, the newly launched settlement module digitizes the entire settlement process of retiring employees. Employees can now fill their settlement/pension booklet online. Apart from reducing the use of paper, it also facilitates monitoring for timely processing of settlement dues of retiring employees.

About 27 lakh families of serving as well as retired railway officials are to benefit from this move.

Prior to these new modules, Indian Railways had already launched other modules of HRMS like Employee Master module which stores all basic information details of Railway employee, Electronic Service Record amongst various other initiatives to digitize Indian Railways.
