26th International Guwahati Trade Fair Begins

Barsha Rani Bishoya roped in as brand ambassador for the 26th International Guwahati Trade Fair

The 26th edition of the International Guwahati Trade Fair is set to take off today at the Maniram Dewan Trade Centre with participants engaged in last minute preparations and decorations to present their brands to the visitors.

In a first of its kind in Assam, the 26th International Guwahati Trade Fair has joined hands with prominent Assamese film actress and social activist Barsha Rani Bishoya as its brand ambassador. This is a very humble gesture from the trade fair organisation to express its solidarity with the Assamese Film Industry.

The fair is being organised by the Industries & Trade Fair Association of Assam ( ITFAA) with the support of Joya Communication and NSIC, Government of India from September 27, 2019 to October 14, 2019 at Maniram Dewan Trade Centre.

A few years ago, ITFAA had organised a programme on Assamese Film Industry titled ‘Renaissance’ where for the first time, Assamese film actors and actresses performed live on stage. The event was widely covered by media across the country and even streamed live by national television channels.

This year, ITFAA is planning to start the festival season for Guwahatians with a line-up of attractive programmes, participation of foreign countries and national big names.

The fair will host a Mega Fashion Show wherein supermodel Diandra Soares and ex-Mr India World, Kawaljit Anand will take part and the event will be choreographed by Tora Khasgir where ace designers Meghna, Nishanta Saikia of Cocktail High and Tanya Puri will showcase khadi, ethnic and western outfits.

A cooking contest which has become a regular part of IGTF will also be organised in a big way with attractive prizes. Rs 1,75,000 will be offered as cash prize on entry tickets for visitors who come to the fair, an International Food Festival will be held with participants from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and different parts of India and Assam with never before seen Mughlai dishes which will be a great attraction for food lovers. Visitors will also get an opportunity to shop during the festival period in an exclusive Thai Pavilion. Xopto Byanjan, an Assamese restaurant, will be managed by actor Ravi Sarma.
