26 of 33 Districts in Assam Currently Reeling Under Floods, 2 More Deaths Reported

GUWAHATI: The Brahmaputra River is flowing above the danger mark at Dibrugarh, Tezpur, Goalpara, Dhubri, Jorhat, Numaligarh, Karimganj, Dhubri, Nagaon and Barpeta.

Two more deaths have been reported from Barpeta and Morigaon districts in the last 24 hours as incessant rains continue to wreak havoc across the state of Assam.

Meanwhile, floods have affected around 26.3 lakh people in over 2,525 villages across 26 districts of Assam so far as per Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA)’s latest flood report.

Over 45,000 people are now taking shelter in 391 relief camps and centres set up across the state. 

More than 1,00,000 hectares of crop area is now submerged underwater with over 20 lakh domestic animals, both big and small, affected by the disaster. In addition, 15 animals have been washed away due to floods.
