GUWAHATI: The floods of 2022 in Assam were the worst in the last decade. The flood affected over 88 lakh people and killed around 181 people as every district of the state reeled under the ravaging flood.
According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), 838 people died in floods in the state from 2013 to 2022.

"Of the 838 people who lost their lives in the last decade, 181 of them died last year, and this is by far the highest," the ASDAMa data revealed.
The data further stated that 160 human deaths were reported in 2017, 122 in the COVID-19-hit 2020, and 102 in 2019.
With monsoons around the corner, the ASDMA has geared up its preparation with other departments to deal with the flood.
