2 Lakh Lives Across 7 Districts Disrupted by First Wave of Assam Floods

২৭ মে’, গুৱাহাটী -  Floods wreaked havoc in two more districts of Assam as incessant rains worsened the already grim situation in the state with rapidly increasing COVID-19 cases.

Floods have affected around 2 lakh people in 229 villages of 7 districts - Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Darrang, Nalbari, Goalpara, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia,  in Assam so far.

Close to 9,000 people have been taking shelter in 35 relief camps set up in Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Goalpara and Tinsukia districts.

Over 1,000 hectares of crop area is now submerged under water with even domestic animals and poultry affected by the disaster.

The Regional Meteorological Department has issued warnings for the state of Assam and Meghalaya for the next few days as rivers continue to remain in full spate with water level in rivers rising continuously due to incessant rains.
