17 Assam Police Officers Promoted to IPS

 

The officers have been assigned to the Assam-Meghalaya Joint Cadre (Assam Segment) and will serve on probation as per the Indian Police Service (Cadre) Rules, 1954

GUWAHATI: Seventeen officers from the Assam Police Service (APS) have been promoted to the Indian Police Service (IPS), following approval from President Droupadi Murmu.

The promotions were made under the provisions of the Indian Police Service (Recruitment) Rules, 1954, and the Indian Police Service (Appointment by Promotion) Regulations, 1955.

The officers have been assigned to the Assam-Meghalaya Joint Cadre (Assam Segment) and will serve on probation as per the Indian Police Service (Cadre) Rules, 1954.

The officers promoted span select lists from 2019 to 2023. Notable names include Jayshree Khersa, David Neitham, and Mugdha Jyoti Dev Mahanta from the 2019 list, along with Harekrishna Nath, Manabendra Dev Ray, Longnit Terang, and Prasanta Saikia from the 2023 list.

The transition is expected to enhance Assam’s law enforcement efforts and strengthen the IPS cadre in the region.
